About

This event aims to foster an interdisciplinary dialogue on the wide-ranging impacts of climate extremes on both human and natural systems. By bringing together researchers, policymakers, and practitioners, the conference seeks to advance integrated approaches for addressing climate impacts and building a just, sustainable future.

Organisers and sponsors

The conference is organised by the Swedish Centre for Impacts of Climate Extremes (climes), and co-organised by FutureMed, the Earth System Governance Project, and TRANSCEND.

The International Union of Geodesy and Geophysics (IUGG) sponsors the meeting through the International Association of Meteorology and Atmospheric Sciences (IAMAS).

Practicalities

The conference will be held in central Uppsala, Sweden. Due to technical limitations, we are unable to offer remote attendance. Uppsala is easily reachable by plane via Stockholm-Arlanda airport, which lies less than 20 minutes by train from Uppsala city centre. There are also good train connections via Stockholm to continental Europe. Regular express trains run from Copenhagen to Stockholm, and there are also direct night trains from Berlin and Hamburg to Stockholm. Uppsala is a 40-minute train ride away from Stockholm, with several departures per hour throughout the day.

Information for poster presenters

Poster dimensions (height × width)
Poster boards measure 137 × 96 cm.
Posters may be up to A0 size (maximum).
There is no fixed standard size, but posters must not exceed the board dimensions.

Orientation
All posters must be in portrait orientation.

Formatting guidelines
There are no specific formatting requirements regarding font size, layout, or logos.
Design choices are left to the presenters.

Printed format
Posters should be printed in advance and brought to the venue.
Please note that poster sessions are designed for printed materials displayed on poster boards. Digital displays, screens, or electronic presentations are therefore not part of the poster format.

Mounting arrangements
Posters will be mounted using pins (Swedish: nålar) provided by the conference.

Important:
Only the pins provided by the conference may be used on the poster boards.
No tape, Velcro, adhesives, glue, clips, or any other mounting materials are permitted.
Nothing other than the provided pins may be attached to or used on the boards.

Instructions for oral presenters

Presentation duration
Each oral presentation is allocated 17 minutes in total, including questions.

Presenters are kindly requested to keep the presentation itself to no more than 13 minutes, allowing sufficient time for discussion. The maximum allowed time is 15 minutes.

To ensure a smooth and well-paced programme, strict adherence to the time limits is essential. Swift transitions between speakers are necessary for maintaining good session flow.

Technical setup
Presenters can use their own portable computers to show the preentations.

All session rooms will be equipped with standard HDMI cables and hubs. However, to ensure efficient transitions and avoid connection delays, presenters are strongly advised to bring their own adapter if their computer does not have a native HDMI port. Although hubs will be available, using your own adapter is the safest way to guarantee compatibility.

If you do not wish to use your own computer, we need to receive your presentation via the form below at least one week ahead of the conference, namely no later than the 2nd of March.
Use this form to submit your presentation and please make sure to follow the instructions mentioned in the form: https://forms.gle/mHHaps9m4Nr28caK7

Before your session
Presenters are kindly asked to arrive in the session room before the start of their session, to test that the presentation and HDMI connection work.

On-site support
Conference hosts will assist with timekeeping and technical connections during the sessions.
