AI for weather extremes: forecasting and impacts

About

AI-driven weather forecasts have become increasingly accurate in recent years, often outperforming traditional physics-based models. This seminar will review the latest developments in AI-driven weather forecasting, focusing on extreme weather detection and predictability. Experts from diverse disciplines will discuss the strengths and limitations of current AI models and the broader social and ethical implications of transitioning to AI-driven forecasting. The seminar will also explore how this shift might impact our approach to mitigating the effects of climate extremes in the future. This event is a collaboration between CNDS and climes.
