Citizen Science

Citizen science at climes connects researchers and the public to jointly explore how climate extremes affect people and places.

Cold and Sweaty

During 2025–2026, Uppsala University, together with school pupils aged 10–15, will carry out the citizen science project Cold and Sweaty.

The project aims to help researchers gain a better understanding of how outdoor temperature affects people in different environments. The co-researchers—school pupils—contribute by interviewing adults in their surroundings while also measuring temperature and submitting their data to researchers at Uppsala University. Through their participation, pupils gain insight into climate, weather and extreme weather, how temperature measurements are conducted, how interviews are carried out, and how research works in practice.

The project starts before the summer of 2025 and runs throughout the 2025/2026 school year. Teachers decide when during the year their class will be active.

The project can accommodate about 250 school classes.
