Climate Impacts in a Changing World 2026

Mark your calendars for the upcoming international conference Climate Impacts in a Changing World 2026, scheduled for March 9th–11th 2026, in Uppsala, Sweden.

This event aims to foster an interdisciplinary dialogue on the wide-ranging impacts of climate extremes on both human and natural systems. By bringing together researchers, policymakers, and practitioners, the conference seeks to advance integrated approaches for addressing climate impacts and building a just, sustainable future.

Abstract submission

We welcome submissions that explore impacts of climate extremes from diverse disciplinary perspectives, and interdisciplinary approaches that bridge conventional subject boundaries. Contributions are encouraged from the natural sciences, medical and health sciences, social and economic sciences and engineering sciences.

Organisers

The conference is organised by the Swedish Centre for Impacts of Climate Extremes (climes), and co-organised by FutureMed, the Earth System Governance Project, and TRANSCEND.

Practicalities

The call for abstracts for the conference will be open from the 29th September 2025 to the 7th November 2025. For abstracts that fit the scope of the conference, the allocation of the limited seats available will be on a first-come, first-served basis.

The conference will be held in central Uppsala, Sweden. Due to technical limitations, we are unable to offer remote attendance. Uppsala is easily reachable by plane via Stockholm-Arlanda airport, which lies less than 20 minutes by train from Uppsala city centre. There are also good train connections via Stockholm to continental Europe. Regular express trains run from Copenhagen to Stockholm, and there are also direct night trains from Berlin and Hamburg to Stockholm. Uppsala is a 40-minute train ride away from Stockholm, with several departures per hour throughout the day.
